This is where I will discuss some of the topics that are brought up during my Instructional Technology Master's Degree courses at Cardinal Stritch University.

This week in CEDO530
We got the chance to use a site called VoiceThread. This is a very interesting site where presentations are enhanced while not going too far from the "simplicity" ideas found in our book Presentation Zen. For the most part, using VoiceThread a teacher can help create a presentation that not only is visually stimulating, but also allows the presenter to give detail without creating a slidument. I am hoping I will be able to also use VoiceThread as a way to pre-plan some of the initial parts of the different sections that I need to teach.

I don’t know if you are like me, but all of my lessons are presented a little different- sometime on purpose and others not so much. Depending on the make-up of the class, ability levels, and class dynamic my presentations often take on different highlights. This program would ensure that all classes hear the same material and it could also act as a good review for the test. It’s a great idea to use this program to help present some of your lessons – especially in lower ability class. With all of the budget cuts, this would free you up to help any struggling students in the class – you could be your own assistant.

ReplyDeleteI also liked the way that Voicethread provided simplicity, clarity, and uniqueness, without too much clutter. I know in the past you've said that you work with underprivileged youths; would this be a tool that could capture their interest? I know that whenever I have students who don't like the subject matter, any change in approach helps with their interest level.
Mike,
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more about how you are planning to use voice thread to pre-plan your units. Are you thinking of using it as a collaboration tool to look over materials with fellow teachers or are you thinking of using it as a pre-assessment tool?
I am thinking that I might pre-record a introductory presentation for the different units that I need to teach in my class.
